  • Category : Fire Detection System
  • Sub Category : N/A
  • Details : Fire alarm cables are specialized, fire-retardant electrical wires regulated by the National Electrical Code (NEC Article 760). They are engineered to maintain circuit integrity and reliably transmit data and power between critical components—such as smoke detectors, pull stations, sirens, and control panels—during an emergency.
Structural Variations
Shielded vs. Unshielded Cables
  • Unshielded Cables: Standard choice for straightforward applications where electromagnetic interference is minimal.
  • Shielded Cables: Feature an aluminum foil wrapper wrapped around the conductors alongside a tinned copper drain wire. They block radio frequency and electronic noise from warping signals on critical addressable circuits or long audio/speaker layouts.
Core Count & Wire Gauge (AWG)
  • Conductors: Cables generally range between 2 to 4 distinct conductors. Two-core lines are standard for simple initiation and notification device endpoints.
  • Thickness: Gauge thickness usually spans from 12 AWG up to 22 AWG. Heavier 14 AWG and 16 AWG lines are used for circuits covering greater distances to mitigate voltage drops.
